Rescue 3 International, Inc., is a California based organisation that has been providing state-of-the-art courses in swiftwater, rope, helicopter, boat-based and other technical rescues for many years.

Tom Parker – Coaching and Guiding is proud to now be able to offer many of the Rescue 3 International courses, providing no nonsense, technical and above all, practical solutions to the incidents encountered by today’s kayakers.

Technician Training

Swiftwater Rescue Technician Unit 1 (SRT Unit 1)

A four day course to train personnel in suitable techniques to undertake rescues in a swiftwater environment. This course is an updated version of the SRT 1 course and is compliant to standards laid down by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). This course is the de-facto standard for river rescue worldwide.

Boat Based Rescue

The above training courses are valid for three years and upon completion students receive a certificate, ID card, badge and skill sheets co-signed by themselves and the instructor. A copy of this is sent to Rescue 3 International in the USA who then enters the student onto their database.

White Water Rescue Technician

A new course from Rescue 3, aimed specifically at kayakers and river guides. The course expects participants to already have a reasonable working knowledge of the river environment, meaning less time is spent covering stuff you already know and more time is spent giving you the tools to tackle river emergencies. This course is set to become the de-facto benchmark rescue course for river people the world over.

Please note that the WRT is considered a suitable rescue training pre requisite for the BCU 5* WW Kayak award.

The SRT Unit 1 course has an optional assessment element. Following the training course it is possible for students to attend a separate two day assessment course thus allowing them to be certified as competent to technician standard.
