This year sees the beginning of the shift from the current BCU coaching scheme to the new BCU/UKCC (United Kingdom Coaching Certificate) scheme, endorsed by Sportscoach UK. Since the introduction is phased, we will be offering existing and new courses alongside each other, throughout the transition period, until the current courses are phased out.
This 2 day course is centred on helping you develop the group and personal skills needed to be effective on grade 2-3 water.

Looking to discover the concepts that will help you safely lead others on advanced rivers? Then come along on this course. We concentrate on helping you develop safe and dynamic leadership techniques to cope with a variety of river situations.

A 2 day assessment looking at leadership and personal skills on water up to grade 4. Our non-interventionist assessment style means that you can just get on with it, without interference and get your feedback later. This leads to a fairer assessment for you!
Pre-requisites: Current first aid award. Relevant 4 Star. At least 1 day’s training in each of the following areas; Personal Paddling, Leadership, Safety/Rescue. The minimum age for this award is 18.

This 2 day workshop focuses on swift, practical solutions to common mishaps on the river. This course provides you with simple, elegant solutions to river safety and the realistic setting of North Welsh water really does give you the chance to put your new found skills to the test. The key is simplicity! This course fulfils the Safety and Rescue training requirement for the BCU/UKCC Level 3 Coach award.
Pre-requisites: Confident grade 2-3 paddler prepared for a wet weekend!

This new 2 day course is designed for those working in steeper and harsher environments than the Level 3 caters for – 5* paddlers, UKCC Level 4 Coaches or just those folks into their steep stuff. Drawing from SRT expertise, this course builds on what is offered by the Level 3.

Pre-requisites: Existing BCU WWSR or new WWSR Level 3.
This course will help you develop the coaching techniques, leadership style and awareness needed to head for Level 3 Coach Assessment. Prerequisites: Minimum age 18, Level 2 coach, BCU 4* Inland Kayak, Current first aid certificate (minimum 8 hours), full BCU membership, stamped C1 form
